India equates Australia’s record for most wins in a year post the 2-1 series victory over South Africa

Proteas witnessed their record for lowest-ever total against India.

Shikhar Dhawan-led India defeated the visitors in a low-scoring match to equate Australia’s record for most international victories in a calendar year. The world record of winning a total of 38 matches in a year was held by Australia since 2003, however, the Indian team is on the verge to surpass the Australian record.

Moreover, India clinched the three-match ODI series against South Africa by 2-1 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. While David Miller-led Proteas witnessed their record for lowest-ever total (99) against India.

Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to field. Moreover, bowling first India restricted the visitors to only 99. Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/18 in 4.1 overs and Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan’s two-wicket each helped India breach the South African batting line-up.

For South Africa, only Janneman Malan, Heinrich Klaasen, and Marco Jansen scored in double digits. Moreover, Heinrich Klaasen managed to score the highest of 34 in 42 balls. Putting up a weak target of just 99, Proteas witnessed their record for lowest-ever total against India.

Defending the mere target South Africa never looked to be able to shift the momentum in their favor. Even a world-class bowling line-up, which included Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi couldn’t defend the target.
