Ind Vs WI Women’s World Cup: Jhulan Goswami creates World Record as India defeat West Indies by 155 runs

India Women played their third match of the Cricket World Cup. After winning from Pakistan and losing against New Zealand. India was desperately looking for a win. However, the Indian team didn’t have a great start. The brilliant partnership by Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur took India from 78/3 in 14 overs to 262 in 42.3 overs. Both Smriti and Harmanpreet scored centuries, which is the first time that 2 Indian batters have hit centuries in the Women’s World Cup. Later, when Smriti was awarded Player of the Match for her 123, she urged the announcer to address the award to Harmanpreet as well. After putting 317 runs on board. the Indian women’s team also managed to wind up the WI batting order at just 162 runs, winning by 155 runs. Moreover, Indian veteran Jhulan Goswami creates World Record, by picking the most wickets in the ICC Women’s WC.

Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami became the leading wicket-taker in ICC Women’s World Cup. Earlier today, India played West Indies Women at Seddon Park. Jhulan dismissed Anisa Mohammed and achieved the feat. Now, Goswami has a total of 40 wickets in the WC. Earlier, Lyn Fullston of Australia had held the record for 34 years by picking 39 wickets in WC matches. The 39-year old bowler is playing her fifth ODI WC. Previously, she has played 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2017 editions. The Chakda Express has played 12 Tests, 195 ODIs, and 68 T20Is picking 44, 245, and 56 wickets respectively.
