Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the best spinners that the Indian Cricket Team has got. He has bowled some of the greatest spells for India as well as his respective IPL teams. However, he is also much appreciated with his skills with the bat. Ashwin can hit sixes and boundaries fluently when the situation requires. Once again, he has proven his hard-hitting skills in the match of Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings which took place on Friday. CSK put up a total of 150 runs on the board and RR, while defending, had already lost its 3rd wicket when Ashwin came onto the field. He scored an impressive innings of 40 runs off just 23 balls and remained unbeaten. Because of the contribution of runs on his behalf, RR managed to secure the win by 5 wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s score of 40 runs included 3 sixes and 2 boundaries. His post-victory celebration was also quite endearing as he showed his enthusiasm of RR winning by thumping on his chest. When asked about this he replied saying, “I just brought out the David Warner inside (laughs).” Also, while speaking about his improved batting performance he said, “Well, before going into the season the communication was pretty clear on what I needed to work on. There obviously are areas where I can work on. I am not one of those most powerful players who is blessed with a lot of power but I had to work on a lot of stuff.”
Adding to that, he stated, “The team management was clear before the tournament. I opened in a lot of practice games. I gave it a try back home as well. So, they did tell me that they’ll use me in the powerplay, maybe open or No.3 and obviously finishing is one role they didn’t tell me but I’m glad it came today.” Ashwin contributed to Rajasthan Royals victory with the ball as well. He picked up a crucial wicket of Devon Conway. With this win, RR is now on the 2nd position at the Points Table with +0.298 net run rate.
