Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad got a 49-ball century against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 65 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. He single-handedly carries the SRH batting. SRH post a defendable score of 186/5 at the end of 20 overs.
Heinrich Klaasen scored his first century in the Indian Premier League in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s penultimate match of the 2024 season. Klaasen also has the second-fastest IPL century for SRH, only behind David Warner. Klassen reached the century in 49 balls, while Warner achieved the same in 43 balls against KKR in 2017. He is the fifth South African hitter to get a century in the IPL.
Klaasen came into bat after Michael Bracewell struck twice in the fourth over of the innings. He dismissed both Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Triptahi. Klaasen has been SRH’s best batter this season and he didn’t waste any time tonight! Heinrich Klaasen started his counter-attack straightaway. He went after Shahbaz Ahmed in the sixth over taking him for 16 runs.
He was batting head and shoulders above the rest of this order, which has struggled for consistency, from his first ball, when he blasted a back of a length pitch on off-stump past cover. The others had no choice but to bat around him, and they didn’t do a particularly good job of it. But what an innings from the South African. His first fifty came in 24 balls and the next 50 runs came in 25 balls.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore need 187 runs to win in 120 balls. Follow the chase here.
