CSK vs MI: Live Score and Update!

CSK vs MI: CSK cruise in the chase!

Chennai Super Kings have cruised to 140 in just 17.4 overs. A good victory for the men in yellow. They move to the second spot on the points table with this victory. Gaikwad set the tone with a flying start. Conway held one end and almost batted through. Rahane, Rayudu and Dube played around Conway and ensured the required rate doesn’t go out of hand!

CSK vs MI: Piyush gets his second wicket!

Piyush Chawla traps Ajinkya Rahane in front of the wicket. A much needed wicket for Mumbai Indians .But they need other bowlers to chip-in too! CSK have done well to keep the runs ticking! The required rate is well under 6 RPO. They are 84/2 after 10 overs and need 56 runs from 60 balls.

CSK vs MI: CSK off to a flier!

Ruturaj Gaikwad gave CSK a flying start. He raced off to 30 runs off just 16 balls. He was dismissed by a half-tracker by Ruturaj Gaikwad which stopped in the pitch a bit. His wicket has allowed MI to bowl two quite overs to end the powerplay. CSK are 55/1 after the powerplay. They need 85 runs from 84 balls.

Impact Player (MI): Raghav Goyal has made his IPL debut, he is the Impact Player for Mumbai Indians. They have substituted Suryakumar Yadav.

CSK vs MI: MI set CSK 140 to chase!

Excellent bowling by the Chennai Super Kings. They have reduced Mumbai Indians to 139/8 in their 20 overs on a stoppy wicket. Mumbai were rocked early in the powerplay and the innings never kicked off from there on. They would be happy with what they have managed but at the same time would feel they are 10-15 runs short.

The target for Chennai Super Kings is 140 runs from 120 balls. It is anyone’s game on a tricky wicket. It will be interesting to see tough how CSK approach this target. The pitch is stoppy, but the chasing teams have a slight advantage in these circumstances. A interesting second-half coming up!

Impact Player (CSK): They have substituted Maheesh Theekshana as soon as he finishes his spell. Ambati Rayudu is the Impact Player!

CSK vs MI: CSK pull MI back!

Jadeja knocked over Suryakumar in the 11th over and that just pulled things back a bit. MI were pushed on the back-foot and were building a partnership once again. Trsitan Stubbs hasn’t found any timing today and that has pulled MI back a little. Tim David to follow and MI would hope to get near 150. They are 93/4 after 15 overs.

Jadeja gets SKY!

Jadeja has given MI a massive blow as he knocks over Suryakumar with a 103-clicks delivery. Suryakumar backed away on the cut and missed, the ball clattering into the middle-stump. SKY fails to execute and pays the price! Mumbai lose their fourth.

CSK vs MI: Recovery in Progress!

MI have recovered after a torrid start, but they will need to up the ante. Not the normal pitch of recent times, but they’d still need at least 160 to remain competitive. SKY and Wadhera are doing it for Mumbai Indians, getting boundaries at regular intervals. MI are 64/3 after 10 overs.

CSK vs MI: Powerplay Done!

The overhead conditions suggested the ball would swing and CSK bowlers have made good use of it. They have snapped three-early wickets. The pitch is on the slower side. It looked hard at the toss but it’s a dry surface. Anything around 160 would be a par score. MI are currently 34/3 after 6 overs. They have SKY at the crease who can just power this MI innings with his sizzling shots.

Chahar strikes twice!

Another good length delivery outside-off and Kishan goes for a big heave and ballons it straight in the air. Theekshana settles under it and takes it. Four balls later, MS walks up to the stumps so that Rohit doesn’t go down the track. Rohit tries something different: he went to scoop this good length ball around middle and off, but the length was slightly shorter for the shot. He airs it straight to point at Jadeja. Rohit departs for a duck, and this is his 16th duck in the IPL. This is most by any players. MI 16/3 after 3 overs.

Deshpande strikes!

Early wicket for the Super Kings. Tushar Deshpande has knocked over Cameron Green. The ball was pitched around the good length but the ball didn’t bounce enough to pull. Green still goes through the shot and misses. The promotion doesn’t work for MI. Early signs we might have a slow and low track to deal with.

Toss Update: Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and opted to bowl!

Pitch Report by Aaron Finch and Pommie Mbangwa: The pitch is hard as a rock, the cracks are less this time around, it’s a high-scoring ground this year with a lot of 200+ scores. It’s a good batting pitch, but it’ll be a touch slow and a touch low, especially against the brand new ball.
