CSK vs DC: Live Score and Update

CSK vs DC: CSK win by 27 runs!

Easy win in the end for CSK. This is the night CSK went old-school. They got a slow wicket here, they batted first and scored a competitive leaving the rest to their spinners. A comfortable victory in the end with every department clicking effectively! The CSK spinners choked DC with spin and the visitors couldn’t recover after that.

CSK vs DC: DC need a miracle!

Jadeja struck in his last over to remove Rilee Rossouw. Two new batters at the crease as they chase above 15 runs per over. It is a very tough ask! Jaddu and Moeen have bowled out. Theekshana still has three left. DC are 91/5 after 15 overs.

Equation: 77 runs | 30 balls

Pathirana strikes!

Pathirana catches Pandey plumb in front with a 149 kph yorker. The batter cleared his front leg to swing across the line and was beaten for pace. Gets pinned low on the back leg adjacent to the middle stump. The asking rate is 12 RPO now on a tricky surface! DC need 84 runs in 42 balls! CSK scored 79 off the last 7 overs! Where is this one heading?

CSK vs DC: DC stay in hunt!

DC have scored 65 but have lost three wickets. These two are set now. One of them has to care about the run rate. The other can continue being the anchor man. Not an easy wicket to score for a new batter. They have done well to recover from that horrifying start but must lose the plot! DC need 103 runs in 60 balls. CSK would look to break this partnership and exert more pressure!

CSK vs DC: CSK pick early wickets!

A horrible mix-up, some brilliant bowling and a few lovely strokes! The highlights of the first six overs. The pitch is a slow and turning and CSK enter the phase where they generally squeeze the opponents. On a track which is tailor-made for spin-bowling, Jadeja and Moeen will be devastatingly effective! A tough-phase to survive for DC, they are 47/3 after 6 overs. They need 121 runs from 84 balls.

Quick Wickets!

Deepak Chahar dismisses Phill Salt with short, slow and well outside-off delivery! Salt was looking to pull again but miscues it. Then a terrible mix-up leads to Mitch Marsh being run-out! Pandey has sold a dummy to Marsh. Looks to drop and run, takes a start, and then turns his back on Marsh, who is gone too far down the pitch. Rahane does well to not throw.  DC didn’t need this! They are 27/3 after 4 overs.

Chahar strikes early!

A wicket in the second ball of the innings! A back-of-the-length delivery Warner looks to punch but lofts it straight to Rahane. A big-wicket and a good first over. A perfect start for the Chennai Super Kings. DC are 1/1 after 1 over.

Impact Player (CSK): Matheesha Pathirana replaces Shivam Dube!

CSK vs DC: MSD-Jadeja give a strong finish!

39 runs from the last three overs!… MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja has provided the perfect finish for CSK! Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni played crucial 20’s to take them to a par score. CSK finish with 167/8 after 20 overs. The top-order got starts but didn’t convert them into big scores.

The target for Delhi Capitals would be 168 runs from 120 balls. This a competitive total to chase on a turning wicket. They would expect Salt to go hard at the top and put pressure on CSK! This could be a close game. Axar Patel did mention that due has started to settle in!

CSK vs DC: DC pull CSK back!

Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu took 23 runs of Lalit Yadav’s third over to get a move-on but Marsh has dismissed Dube and CSK lose their fifth! Big wicket and DC pull CSK back again. Shivam Dube was looking dangerous but perished trying to take on the longer part of the boundary! That 23-run over promised a big finish from CSK. Can CSK get to 165? They are 117/5 after 20 overs.

What a catch!

Sensational catch. He has dived to his right, up to where the non-striker stands. Even the umpire has made an O with his lips. One-handed skimmer. Rahane was supposed to be the guiding light but is walking back for 21 runs. CSK is in deep trouble now, they are in tricky territory now! The pitch isn’t the best one to bat on! CSK are 82/4 after 12 overs. They need a partnership that sees them through the spinners!

CSK vs DC: Tricky conditions at Chepauk!

Chennai Super Kings have lost their third wicket as Moeen Ali walks back. The pitch is turning and holding-up! DC spinners are putting on breaks on the CSK scoring and creating pressure. Rahane and Dube in the middle, they need to assess and decide what’s a good score on this track! Anything above 150 should be winning total here! CSK are 66/3 after 10 overs.

Gaikwad departs immediately after the powerplay!

Axar gets two. Gaikwad’s half-hearted loft kills him. It was sent up outside off, gets forward to loft but does not completely engage, and goes to long-off, where Aman races in for a good catch. A wicket immediately after powerplay. Moeen Ali comes in at no. 4! CSK are 52/2 after 7 overs.

CSK vs DC: An even Powerplay!

Chennai Super Kings off to a good start in the powerplay on a pitch which is not straightforward for strokemaking. There are early signs of this being a slowish one! Devon Conway had a rare failure but CSK have good batting depth! CSK are 49/1 after 6 overs.

Axar has got Conway!

After a missed and an unsuccessful review, Capitals finally get Devon Conway. Axar has him trapped plumb in front of the wicket. Conway never got going. He misses the slog sweep second time and has to depart! CSK 32/1 in 4.1 overs.

Toss Update: Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and have elected to bat!

Pitch Report by Matthew Hayden and Simon Doull: As usual here in Chennai, it (pitch) is nice and dry, it’s very hard but a little hollow and it just begs the question of why there are so many runs that we are actually seeing here at Chepauk this year. Is it going to turn? That’s the thing I am going to be looking at when it comes to this wicket and I believe it is. Couple of days of rain, but it’s dry and even though it won’t crumble too much, I am gonna bat first. This is going to break up a little bit as the evening goes on.”
