Babar Azam Unsold In The Hundred Draft

Babar Azam  one of the best players in the game’s shorter formats, but went unsold in the draft for The Hundred 2022. Despite his magnificent performance in T20Is last year, the franchises didn’t sign Babar. Infact, only two Pakistan players were able to get into the teams. Wahab Riaz and Naseem Shah were picked in the league’s draft.

The Hundred is a cricket tournament in which each team gets 100 balls. The tournament started a year ago and is now set to enter its second season. The draft for the second edition was conducted on Tuesday. Super Northern Chargers have roped in Riaz for £75,000, while Welsh Fire have bought Naseem for £60,000.

The Pakistan skipper was a part of the most expensive players’ category, but he did not find any takers. Pakistani Wicket Keeper Mohammad Rizwan too couldn’t fetch any buyers for himself. Chris Gayle, Mohammad Amir, and Aaron Finch also went unsold.

Babar Azam Unsold In The Hundred Draft

Recently, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar said Babar Azam, the current Pakistan captain, could attract a bid in the range of ₹15-20 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Akhtar claims if Pakistan players are allowed back in the IPL then Babar Azam could be among the highest paid in the auction.

“In the auction, Babar would go for 15-20 crore,”

Akhtar said, adding that it would be a great sight to see the Pakistan stalwart open the innings with former India captain Virat Kohli in the IPL.

With Babar going unsold in the Hundred draft, the social media is filled with comments tagging Shoiab Akhtar asking about his earlier spoken statement. Does the Rawalpindi Express throw a unplayable bouncer or does he for a change dodges it, we’ll get to know in future
