After being ruled out from the Super 4s fixture against Pakistan, young Indian pacer Avesh Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Asia Cup, due to illness. Seamer Deepak Chahar has been drafted in to fill for his role.
Avesh has played 15 T20Is for India, picking up 13 wickets with a best of 4/18. But his economy of 9.10 and average of 32.46 has been a subject of criticism amongst many. Recently in the game against Hong Kong, the pacer went for 53 runs in his 4 overs for one wicket. Before that against Pakistan, he had given 19 runs in 2 overs for a wicket.
“Avesh has fever and he has also got sinus related problems which has escalated post illness. It will not be possible for him to take further part in the tournament. Deepak Chahar is already there and he will be drafted in THE main squad,”

Chahar was earlier named as a reserve player for Asia Cup
Chahar was named in the Indian squad as one of the three reserve players, though many had thought that he would have been named in the main squad.
“In any case, Deepak’s comeback was a matter of time as before injury he was ahead in the pecking order compared to Avesh. Yes, it’s an unfortunate circumstance that our fast bowler is out and we hope Avesh is fit before the Australia series,”
