Birmingham: Wrestling at CWG’22 took place on the 5th and 6th of August at the Coventry Arena. India fielded 12 wrestlers and 12 of them provided results. The wrestlers determined themselves to give their hundred percent and India has achieved it.
A total of 10 Contingents made it to the podium at least once. India, of course, became the best-performing nation after the wonderful outing they had. The nation won 6 Golds, 5 Bronze, and a Silver to top the table. Canada and Nigeria shared the rest of the 6 Golds between themselves. The host nation had to satisfy with three bronzes while the defending champion settled with two bronzes.
The six categories in Men’s included 57, 65, 74, 86, 97, and 125 kgs. On the Other Hand, in Women’s freestyle included 50,53, 57, 62, 68, and 76 kgs. India sent at least one participant in every category. So, 12 participants spread across 12 events and India just won at least a third spot in every category.

Rise of Canada in Wrestling
Commonwealth Games is a place of exhibition of talent and winning prizes for it. But, It is also an opportunity to find their rivals and better themselves with heavier standards. India is not the only contingent to place medalists in all categories. Canada has also achieved this feat. The Maple country has 3 Golds, 5 Silvers, and 4 Bronzes. Canada is one of the toughest rivals India will have to face in Global and other International events in the future.
