At the 2018 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament on March 7, Naveen made his first-class debut for Kabul Region. Naveen was named to Nangarhar’s squad for the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League tournament in September 2018. Prior to the English T20 Blast tournament in February 2021, Naveen was acquired by the Leicestershire Foxes. He was also signed by the Colombo Star for the third season of the Lanka Premier League. On 19 January 2017, he made his T20 debut against Namibia at the Dubai Sports City (DSC). He made his IPL debut against the Rajasthan Royals on April 19, 2024.

In August 2019, Naveen was selected for the Afghanistan Twenty20 International (T20I) team for the 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series.
