Novak Djokovic, during his clash with Britain’s Cameron Norrie in Rome earlier in May, did not like Cameron Norrie’s on-field antics. And now the Brit, during the ongoing 2024 French Open criticized the Serb for being late.
In Rome, the 36-year-old defeated Norrie 6-3, 6-4 but after the match, he revealed how disappointed he is after Norrie struck the ball on his foot, and his medical timeout right before the final game.
And now, Norrie, while speaking to Eurosport, expressed how Djokovic did not apologize despite coming late to the court.
“He wanted some more time on the physio bed and the match was scheduled for 11 am and we walked out maybe 11.12 am, 11.13 am,” the Brit said.
“I don’t think he saw any problem with that. He never said anything to me and never apologized. I asked, ‘Was that okay to do that? The officials said, ‘Yeah, it’s within the rules.’
I’ve never seen that before from any player. Regardless if it’s a tennis match or not, you turn up on time for whatever it is.”
Norrie said that his celebration during his match against the Serb was the same as his other matches. He also said that the smash on the Serb’s foot was an accident and that taking a medical timeout was within the rules.
