With the title race well and truly wrapped up by Napoli, it is now the race for the top 4 spot that is keeping Serie A fans glued to their TV screens. With admission to Europe’s most profitable league looming upon them, each team will be looking to achieve their best form with 2 games left. The stakes have been further increased in the wake of Juventus’ 10 point deduction which sees them drop from 3rd all the way to 7th. With teams like Lazio, Inter Milan, AC Milan still very much in the race for the UCL, we take a look at each team’s chances of qualifying for the same.
Lazio
Maurizio Sarri’s men will be the happiest of the bunch going into the final 2 games of the season. Lazio sit firmly in 2nd place after beating Udinese last matchday thanks to Ciro Immobile’s 12th goal of the season. Sarri’s determination to create a perfect blend of entertaining football and defensive structure has paid dividends, with The Biancocelesti conceding a mere 28 goals this season and being on the verge of returning to European football’s greatest spectacle.

Inter Milan
Even thought Inter managed to exceed all expectations and reach the UCL final this season, the team is far from perfect. Even with that fact glaringly obvious they’ve also managed to win the Coppa Italia and find themselves on the cusp of a treble if they somehow upset Man City in the UCL final. Juventus’ point deduction too has come in handy for them as the Nerazzurri find themselves in the 3rd spot now, 2 points behind local rivals AC Milan. With increasingly luring profits from the Champions League, Inter will be doing their all to finish the season on top.

AC Milan
4th-placed AC Milan got back to winning ways against Sampdoria with goals from Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao and a fabulous hattrick from Olivier Giroud. Stefano Pioli’s men have greatly benefited from the points deduction for Juventus, which is the sole reason that they currently occupy the 4th spot and look to be on their way to qualifying for the Champions League. The club managed to generate a mammoth €80 million from their run in the UCL this season which ended against bitter rivals Inter in the semi-finals. Thus, qualifying for the UCL is essential for AC Milan from not only a footballing but also a financial standpoint.
