Granit Xhaka Leaves In Style As Arsenal Demolish Wolves

Arsenal end their season in style as Granit Xhaka bids farewell to the Emirates.

Granit Xhaka saw his time at Arsenal end in fabulous fashion as the Swiss managed to score a brace en route to Arsenal demolishing Wolves with a decisive 5-0 victory. The 30 year-old is already set for a move to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen at the end of this season and capped off his 7 year tenure in North London with a fabulous outing which won him the Man of The Match award.

Xhaka’s farewell was capped off with a brilliant peformance from the entire team, with Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Jakub Kiwior also managing to get on the scoresheet. Even though the season ended in disappointment for Mikel Arteta’s men, there’s still plenty of positives to build off of. The Gunners finished their season with 84 points, a tally of 15 more than their previous season, which just goes on to show the progress made by the club in such a short timeframe.

Arsenal featured a number of ball-winning midfielders as they continued with their unorthodox lineup. Thomas Partey, after his spell out of the team put in a solid performance from the RB position, something Arteta tinkered with for the first time against Nottingham Forest, to much dismay of both the team and the supporters. But it all seemed to tick for Arsenal today as both him and Jakub Kiwior on the left flank found their stride and managed to create the solid structured defensive work that Arsenal is now known for.

Xhaka’s 3 minute brace was followed by Bukayo Saka’s wonderous strike as Trossard and Odegaard linked up to provide the perfect ball for the England international who beat Kilman on his way to curling the ball into the net. Another assist from Trossard saw Gabriel Jesus bag a fantastic headed goal before Jakub Kiwior wrapped up the scoring thanks to a Jose Sa error.
