In a do-or-die encounter, Maple Leafs defeated Panthers 2-1 at the latter’s home arena. Maple Leafs have thus forced a Game 5 of the series to be held at Toronto’s home.
Panthers who have displayed absolute show of amazing hockey was languishing at the home. Both the teams failed to capitalize any goal scoring opportunity in the 1st period. In the 2nd period, Nylander took advantage of a power play and shot a backhand which deflected off Bobrovsky and sailed into the net.
The Leafs extended their lead in the 3rd period thanks to fan favorite Mitch Marner. Aided by a Jack McCabe’s centering pass, Marner fired the puck to score and tip the scales in their favor. Sam Reinhart scored at almost seven minutes left to avoid a playoff shutout for the Panthers.
Post the loss, Maurice had no lamenting. He seemed confident about his team, joking with reporters making Semi-Pro references. He added that he believes Panthers doesn’t need to do anything different from what they have done so far. On the opposite end, Maple Leafs have found a need goalkeeper – Jospeh Woll. Woll started in for Ilya Samsonov who stayed off rink due to an upper body injury. Also Read: Meet Malakai John: The curse-breaking baby boy of Toronto Maple Leafs
