After thirteen seasons in the NHL, 36-year-old defenseman from Minnesota Justin Braun has announced his retirement from the game.
San Jose Sharks signed Justin Braun as a seventh-round draft pick in 2007. However, he made his debut in 2010 against Vancouver Canucks. After nine long years with San Jose, the Flyers picked him up in 2019-20. Eventually, Justin signed with the Flyers for one season in 2022-23. Justin has played 842 Regular season games, recording 34 goals and 165 assists. During his last game, the Flyers pushed the defensive defenseman to reach his 200th point. The Minnesota-born star has played 119 Playoff games, mostly with San Jose Sharks. He even helped San Jose to reach their first-ever Stanley Cup Finals in 2015-16.
The defenseman at 36-year-old is one of the best defensemen from the 2007 Draft alongside Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Shattenkirk. His numbers in 2022-23 were subpar and a rebuild in Flyers’ eyes meant that It was time for him to loosen his tied blades.
