The Blueshirts, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs stand a chance to clinch a play-off spot on Monday night.
Toronto Maple Leafs (44-20-9) can clinch the second Stanley Cup direct Playoff spot from the Atlantic Division if Senators defeat the Panthers. Ottawa Senators play Florida Panthers at their home tonight.

Toronto is currently second in the Atlantic Division with 97 points. The Panthers (36-30-7) are fourth and have 79 points and a possibility of 97 points (If they win every remaining match). A loss against the Senators means the maximum points Panthers can reach is 95 (Or 96 if Panthers lose in the Overtime). This ensures that Maple Leafs won’t drop below 4th at any chance .
Now, the Blueshirts needs Panthers to lose against the Senators in regulation. Rangers also require Montreal Canadiens to defeat Buffalo Sabres in any fashion. Rangers (43-20-10) have 96 points and are ranked third in the Metropolitan Division.

Panthers are also gunning for the Wild Card spot and are third behind Islanders and Penguins. A regulation loss reduces the maximum number of points that Panthers can gain to 95. The Sabres are fourth in the wildcard race, with a maximum chance for 96 points. A loss in any fashion would mean the max points reduce to 94 or 95. Thus, ensuring the Rangers, even if they don’t win any games forward will be the 2nd playoff spot.
However, If Panthers defeat Senators or Sabres win against Canadiens, The Blueshirts just have to defeat Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow in Regulation Time. Considering the fact that the Rangers have won 8 out of their past 10 games, It’s highly predicted they will record their 62nd Playoff appearance.
Similarly, if today’s results doesn’t go Leafs’ way, They just have to defeat Panthers on Wednesday at Scotiabank Arena.
