Boston Bruins dominated Detroit Redwings late at night 3-2 after trailing 2-0 in the first period. Later, Washington Capitals defeated New York Islanders in regulation, paving way for the Bruins to mark their spot in the Final 16.
Earlier, Boston Bruins also became the fastest NHL team to reach 50 wins. Irony as it seems, Boston (50 wins in 64 games) bested the benchmark set by Redwings in 1995-96 (50 wins in 66 games). Tampa Bay Lightning also took 66 games in 2018-19 to reach 50 wins.
Boston has appeared in the Play-Offs consecutively for the past six seasons. They made it to the finals in 2019 where St Louis Blues defeated them. The last time Bruins won the Finals was in 2011, 12 years ago. Can the Bruins make it this time?
The team is carried by David Pasternak who’s been tremendous in form by notching up 86 points including 45 goals so far. Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm take on the defense and Linus Ullmark hides the net. The Bruins have been wonderful to watch and are key contenders for Stanley this year.
