There have been many new arrivals at the Camp Nou this summer in the form of Christensen, Kessie, Raphinha and of course Lewandowski. Bu the club have to enforce departures too, both for the squad balance and to maintain the finances. One of the names that the Catalan giants are hoping to cash in on is Memphis Depay, he arrived at the Camp Nou last summer on a free transfer after his contract at the French club Lyon expired. He had a promising start at Barcelona as he scored 8 goals in his first 15 games, however after the arrival of Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang saw his minutes decrease rapidly. He just added 5 more goals to his tally from December to May.

Despite declaring last month that he would be willing to stay at Barcelona and the club even considering extending his contract so that he doesn’t leave on a free next summer. But it now appears that his time at the club would come to an end as the arrival of Raphinha and Lewandowski plus Dembele choosing to stay until 2024 shows that Depay won’t be having any minutes next season. Hence now he is available in the transfer market and Spurs appear to be the most interested club in signing the Dutchman as Conte is still looking to increase his frontline depth despite the 60 Million Euros signing of Richarlison from Everton.
But Memphis would be considerably cheaper as the reports suggest that Barcelona just value him at 25 Million Euros. But Spurs have offered the Spanish Giants 17 Million Euros for the striker and it would not be a surprise that in the coming weeks both clubs agree on a deal worth 20 Million Euros. But the fee is not the only obstacle in this transfer as the Premier League side would need to convince Depay to leave Spain and join them. All in all, it would be interesting how this transfer saga develops.
