The undoubtedly talented duo of wicket-keeping batsmen, Quinton De Kock and KL Rahul smashed the highest opening partnership in IPL history. Not to mention, their partnership consisted of a massive 210 runs which they hit in the match of Lucknow Super Giants against Kolkata Knight Riders. With this outstanding opening collaboration, Quinton also recorded the highest individual score of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League. He scored a total of 140 runs just 70 deliveries. Also, KL Rahul thoroughly backed him up by score an unbeaten 68 runs off 51 balls. Moreover, LSG didn’t lose any wicket whilst batting first and set a great total on the board. Although, Kolkata Knight Riders put up a considerable effort in chasing the total but unfortunately fell short by just 2 runs.
As a matter of fact, Quinton and Rahul’s contribution proved to be a great help for LSG in winning those 2 points which took them straight to the playoffs in IPL 2022. Talking about highest opening stand in IPL, the LSG duo has surpassed Jonny Bairstow and David Warner’s opening partnership of 185 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad. They reached this record while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the year 2019. In this season, LSG has performed significantly good and has won 9 out of 14 matches that they’ve played.

Quinton De Kock, in a post-match interview also spoke about how it felt to come out on the field and perform well for the team. Here’s what he said, “It was a bit of frustration that came out (regarding his aggressive celebration). Felt really good to come out and do well. Was trying to keep it in, but when it came out, felt good.” While KL Rahul made a joke of getting paid more for showcasing such great games. “I should probably get paid more for games like this. We had missed games like this, in this season. Haven’t been many games that went down to the last ball, maybe some which went to the last over. Happy to be on the other side.”
