There, Anuj went to practice after his father had enrolled him in a cricket academy, few kms away from their home of the village. However, after he was 10 years old, his cricketing coach saw the potential he had as a cricketer. Therefore, he advised his parents to permanently move to Delhi in order to provide sufficiently to Anuj for his cricketing needs. After moving to Delhi, he got himself enrolled in the Raj Kumar Sharma’s Academy situated at Paschim Vihar in West Delhi.

Anuj debuted in the first-class match for Delhi during the Ranji Trophy competition on the 6th of October in 2017. His first match was against Assam and he scored brilliant in his entry into professional cricket. He smashed 71 runs in the first and 13 runs in the second innings of the match along with performing as a genius behind the stumps. After the Ranji series, he got selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and scored 88 runs against Suarashtra which led his team to the victory. Following his performance in the domestic leagues, he was selected in the U-19 Indian squad for Asia Cup.
