Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini will skip 3 major clay court events after recovering from a “minor operation” on his hand. The 25 year old had undergone the procedure last week on his right hand and shared details of his recovery.
“Following advice from the medical experts, my team and I have decided that it is crucial I do not put time pressure on my recovery process.” Berrettini said. He cited his withdrawal from Monte-Carlo, Madrid and Rome “to ensure I give myself the proper amount of time to return at my highest level.“

Withdrawing From Miami
After careful consideration, Berrettini decided against playing Miami. Matteo and his team agreed that undergoing a surgical procedure on his troublesome right hand was the best option. “My team and I have been speaking to medical experts since my withdrawal from Miami with a right-hand injury.
Following multiple scans and assessments we decided a minor operation was the best solution to ensure a full and quick recovery. Earlier today I had the operation and I’m happy to report it went extremely well. My doctor and team are already discussing plans for me to get back on-court.
Addressing his fans, he said, “Thanks very much for all the support. My recovery process is on track and I look forward to seeing you on-court soon.”
