The Los Angeles Kings veteran forward Anze Kopitar was surprised by the organization with his son Jakob Kopitar. The 7-year-old Jakob read the opening lineup for the game against Boston Bruins where his dad Anze gained the record for most games played in LA Kings history.

Jakob started off with a “hii“, soon followed by the lineup and ended with saying “my dad, Number 11 Anze Kopitar.“The proud dad grinned throughout the whole time, smiling at his kid as he read from the paper. After which, The Kopitars embraced each other. Jakob donned a white overshirt with a graphic of Anze holding both of his kids and Gustl, Anze’s pet. The shirt also read, “My Dad is My Hero”

Anze played his 1297th match with the Kings since drafted 11th overall in 2005. The Slovene made his debut on 6 October 2006 against the Ducks and scored two goals. Ever since, Kopitar has been solid with the outfit, winning Stanley Cup twice, in 2012 and 2014.

Kopitar surpassed the record of former teammate Dustin Brown of 1296. He holds the 4th most goals for the franchise, 395, 162 short of Luc Robitaille’s 557. Anze stands a better chance breaking Marcel Dionne’s record for most assists in franchise history. Anze has 751 assists to his name while Dionne has 757.
