Los Angeles is hosting the biggest sports event of the year and it is no less exciting than a movie. Day 1 has a great card and is full of stars that will make the event worth watching. This is WrestleMania.
From the return of John Cena to the road to the redemption of KO and Sami, the night is full of promises. And it delivered at the biggest stage of them all.
John Cena VS Austen Theory (US Champion)
The idea of the match was very simple and had the vibe of a passing-the-torch match. Austen Theory idolized John Cena as a kid and it was time for the tribute.
The build-up was nothing extraordinary but the promo by John Cena set up a bar in the first place.
Theory surely set up the pace of the match with his speed. But soon enough, John Cena capitalized on locked Theory in an STF. Theory escapes with the help of sneaky tactics.
The inexperience of Theory quite helped Cena as he hit him with an AA and later wanted to follow it up with another one. But Theory’s foot hit the referee, making an opening for theory.
Theory capitalized and one A Town Down later, he was victorious.
Theory defeated Cena via pinfall to retain the US Championship.
Rating- 2.75/5
Braun Strowman & Ricochet vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy vs. The Viking Raiders (Men’s Showcase)
It was more of a showcase match, where everyone showed ridiculous strength and athleticism. Gable’s suplex to Strowman’s splash, it was a feast indeed.
Ford and Dawkins managed to be victorious after they pinned Ricochet. This was supposed to be a stale match but exceeded our expectations by miles. A fast-paced match with great spots.
This match was indeed an underdog in the whole card and stole some appreciation for sure.
Street Profits def. Ricochet and Strowman, Alpha Academy, and Viking Raiders via pinfall.
Rating- 3.5/5
