Serena Williams, the American tennis sensation, suffers from sinus problems and may be using the tapes to reduce the pressure.
Serena Williams has apparently had sinus difficulties for long years and acknowledged the same in 2007. Williams had started a sinus medication campaign and also aided to raise awareness about sinus problems.
Serena Williams statement on the issue
The 40 year-old tennis star in a statement opens up about her Sinus problem.
“My secret’s out.I’m a sinus sufferer. Playing tennis or pretty much doing anything every day is not easy when you have sinuses.”
“You feel a lot of pressure, congestion and pain and training for grand slams such as… Wimbledon and the French Open, it’s not easy.”

Williams also comments on how she fought with this severe issue.
“To avoid some of the trouble, it’s important not to use so much ice in your beverages. Sometimes that stops you up and makes you get a lot of pressure.‘
“I’ve learned taking hot, hot showers — as hot as you can stand it — helps clear those passage ways. And working out helps a lot. That keeps you clear, keeps your chest clear and keeps everything clear.”
What happens with Sinusitis?
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses, which are hollow regions behind your cheeks that attach to your nose. When the membrane of these spaces thickens, mucus cannot drain properly from your nose and throat.
Mild sinusitis patients should wipe their noses with a salt water solution or get a decongestant nasal spray from a pharmacist.

Serena Williams vs Harmony Tan: First round at Wimbledon 2022
Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, dropped from the Wimbledon Championships 2022 on Tuesday after losing to French tennis player Harmony Tan.
The seven-time Wimbledon winner fell behind 5-7 in the first set before rallying to win it 6-1 in the second. Tan, on the other hand, won the match in the third set with a scoreline of 7-6 (10) in her favour.
