One of the greatest tennis players in the Open Era, Roger Federer announced his farewell in the Laver Cup 2022, next week. After a couple of years of injuries and health issues dangled his return to tennis. The 20-times Grand Slam champion, and with the most Wimbledon trophies, he eventually decided to retire from his professional career.
It was uncertain for his fans if he will return back on ATP Tours, somehow, Roger playing in the Laver Cup 2022 gave a ray of hope to them. But, along with his farewell in front of his crowd and fellow opponents, against whom he had remarkable and historical matches.
The 41-year-old, former World No. 1 and Swiss No. 1 shared his retirement news via his Twitter and Instagram handle on 15, September 2022.

Roger Federer’s fairytale 24 years of career
Federer had an unforgettable, astonishing and top-class 24 years of professional career. He won his first major title in Wimbledon in 2003 at the age of 21. During the beginning of 20’s, he was counted amongst the ‘Big Three’ men to dominate tennis. Roger Federer broke the records in the 2018 Australian Open to become the first man to win 20 Grand Slams.
Simultaneously, he was also the oldest man to be the World No. 1 on the ATP rankings. He was very much loved, and also adored for his great deeds for other people.
Roger Federer represented Switzerland on many big sports occasions, as Team Switzerland won their first Davis Cup in 2014. Furthermore, he is a two-time Olympics medalist, firstly in the 2008 Beijing in men’s doubles with his duet, Stan Wawrinka. Secondly, a silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Federer will be representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup 2022 along with his fellow two biggest rivals, Nadal and Djokovic. He extended a huge thank you to his dearest friends and family, as well as, his biggest fan supporters out in the stadiums and his on-court opponents.
Laver Cup will start on 23 September for which he is practising at gyms and courts for a couple of months ago. It will be an enormously special farewell for this great legend, finally, ending his 24-year professional career.
