He also gave the biggest upset by beating Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal the day before the semifinal. Carlos reached his second ATP Masters 1000 Final after achieving 3 Milestones after defeating Novak.

1. Carlos Alcaraz becomes the first player to defeat Nadal & Djokovic at the same event on clay

Carlos Alcaraz turned 19 just before the day of the quarterfinal. On his birthday he defeated Cameron Norrie in the Round of 16 to advance for quarters. On the first day of young 20, Carlos crushed the 21-Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals. The second day was even more important and exciting for him as he was playing against Novak Djokovic.

The youngster consumed all the crowd support to release the pressure of the match with Novak. He strick Novak with many unreal cross-court drop shots ultimately, making it unplayable for the best runner on the court. Carlos’s athletism matched point-to-point with Novak’s leading to his career’s biggest win. He believed people of his capabilities and that he can stand big in front of the ‘BIG 3’.

2. Carlos Alcaraz become the youngest player to defeat World No. 1 in 17 years

Carlos defeated the World No. one Novak Djokovic at 19 years and two days. After 17 years, he becomes the youngest player to defeat world number one. The win was conquered in three hours and thirty minutes of a long game.

The last time this record was held by Rafael Nadal because he defeated the World No. 1 that time Roger Federer. He did it at the 2002 Miami Open then Nadal was 17-years-old to achieve such a record.

3. Alcaraz becomes the youngest finalist in the Madrid Open history

In the history of the Madrid Open, Alcaraz is the youngest player to be in the finals. At 19 years and two days, he is the finalist of the Madrid Open. The young Spaniard’s potential, belief, athletism and unique style lead to conquering this record so early.

He defeated the five-time champion, Rafael Nadal, on the way to being a finalist. While facing one set down in both the crucial matches he never gave up at any moment. Carlos fought till the end of each match believing it to be the first match of his career.
