The New York Rangers have secured the services of Jonathan Quick, Hall of Fame Goaltender for one more year.
General Manager Chris Drury revealed that the Rangers have extended the contract of backup goaltender Jonathan Quick for another year. The agreement reportedly includes an annual cap hit of $1.275 million, a slight increase from Quick’s previous cap hit of $825,000.
Following his departure from the Los Angeles Kings, where he spent a significant portion of his 16-season career and clinched two Stanley Cups, there were uncertainties about Quick’s performance as he entered his late thirties.
However, the 38-year-old has exceeded expectations, delivering exceptional performances for the Blueshirts this season. In 21 appearances, Quick has maintained an impressive .916 save percentage and secured two shutouts. Additionally, he ranks third in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes with a notable figure of 0.627, as reported by moneypuck.com (minimum 15 games played).

The goaltender stands on the brink of equaling Dominik Hasek’s record for the 15th most wins in NHL history with 389 victories. Moreover, he is just three wins shy of matching Ryan Miller’s tally, which stands as the highest among American-born goaltenders.
Originally selected by the Kings in the third round, 72nd overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Jonathan Quick hails from Milford, Connecticut. Throughout his illustrious career spanning 17 seasons with the Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Vegas Golden Knights, Quick has featured in 774 games (760 starts), amassing a remarkable record of 388 wins, 282 losses, and 86 overtime or shootout losses. He boasts a career goals against average of 2.47 and a save percentage of .911. Among American-born goaltenders, Quick ranks fourth in games played.
A three-time Stanley Cup champion (with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023 and the Los Angeles Kings in 2014 and 2012), Quick has also been recognized as a Vezina Trophy finalist on two occasions (in 2011-12 and 2015-16). Additionally, he has contributed to two William M. Jennings Trophy wins, awarded to the goaltenders on the team with the fewest goals against, achieving this honor in 2013-14 and 2017-18 during his tenure with the Los Angeles Kings.
