Toronto: Few days back, Toronto Maple Leafs overcame Tampa Bay Lightning to end their 19-year drought of not winning a playoff series. Alec Brownscombe, a long-time fan of the Leafs and a digital analyst had yet another reason to celebrate, his curse-breaking baby boy.
Alec Brownscombe’s wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy exactly on the night the Leafs advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup in 19 long years. He tweeted a picture of his kid and termed him a “curse-breaking baby boy”. The infant was named Malakai John, a name fixed prior to the delivery. Alec noted that he was expecting John Tavares to make the winning goal and provide a connection to the fixed name. Also Read: Rinkside Rundown: What do you mean by a power play in NHL?
Malakai John, the firstborn child of Alec Brownscombe, joins a family filled with an exciting ice history. Dick and Frank Caroll- the brothers who lead the Leafs (then Arenas) to their first Stanley Cup victory in 1918 are the infant’s great-great-great grandpa and great-great uncle. Dick Caroll also holds the record of being the first coach to win his first NHL season. Brwoscombe told CTV News Toronto that he feels that he will enroll his son in NHL as long as it is his passion. He added that hockey reigns supreme despite his family being into golf and soccer.
