Considered one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL, Aleksander Barkov quipped Jonathan Huberdeau to become Florida Panthers’ highest point scorer. The Finnish International has 614 points compared to Huberdeau’s 613.
Aleksander Barkov achieved this monumental feat by assisting in the second period in the 5-2 win against the Detroit Redwings at Little Caesars Arena.
“This is a great feeling, and I’m sure I’ll realize that even more as time goes by. I didn’t even realize what was happening because I wasn’t expecting anything. When they all started cheering, that’s a moment I’ll remember the rest of my life.” said the 27-year-old Finn.

Barkov signed with Panthers on 13th July 2013. In 2016-17, He signed a new deal effective until the last season. In October 2021, The Finnish International signed an eight-year contract with the Panthers.
Barkov started his inaugural season with 24 points from 54 games. His best season (96 points) was the 2018-19 season where he came very close to hitting 100. Barkov has scored 238 goals so far and assisted 376 in 652 games across the years. In Play-Offs, he has played 26 games in which he has accumulated 21 points.
The victory has also increased the Panther’s attempt for a third-straight postseason. They are fourth in the Atlantic Division with 79 points (36-27-7).
The Cats are in contention for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They are a point ahead of the Penguins and one point shy of the Islanders. The Wild Race is fuming up with three teams fighting tooth and nail for the two spots.
