Height is one of the most important factors in NBA. It determines everything, from your position to your playstyle. With that in mind, let’s have a look at the Top 5 tallest players in NBA history.
There still are a lot of big men playing multiple positions though, and not just center.
Anthony Davis plays Power Forward along with center. This just goes to show that height isn’t the only thing that keeps you on the court and in your position. It is a big factor though.

5. Yao Ming (2.29m)
Yao Ming was the tallest NBA player during his time with the Rockets. After eight years of his excellent performance with the Rockets, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Chinese legend further earned an All-Star appearance in every season he played. Ming was also the first-team ALL NBA player five times in his career.
Speaking of his career, Ming averaged 19 points, 9.2 rebounds and more than 50% field goal percentage.
4. Shawn Bradley (2.29m)
Shawn Bradley was the Philadelphia 76ers second pick back in 1993, along with stars Chris Webber and Penn Hardaway. He played three seasons for the 76ers before he was transferred to the Nets.
Then, Bradley moved to the Mavericks in 1997 and played nine seasons for the team before retiring in the 2004-05 campaign.
In his career, Bradley managed to average 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

3. Slavko Vraneš (2.29m)
Slavko Vraneš was only able to play a single game of NBA as a member of Portland Trailblazers back in the 2003-04 season. The Serbian played for three minutes in the game and missed his only shot attempt.
Though he was unable to craft a career for himself in the NBA, Slavko saw a lot of action overseas in Italy, Iran, Serbia and Turkey.
2. Manute Bol (2.31m)
Bol is the second tallest player in the NBA ever. He also weighed only 200 pounds. But that did not stop him from having a decent career in the league. He played for 10 years for several teams, namely: Washington Bullets, the Golden State Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat.
Even though he was not as skilled as the other players, he was excellent at blocking. As a rookie, he was able to average a whopping 4.96 blocks per game, which is still the all-time record for a rookie.
He kept a record of 3.3 blocks per game throughout his career.
1. Gheorghe Mureșan (2.31m)
Gheorghe Muresan is the tallest player in NBA history, beating Manute Bol by a few millimeters. He was a good player as well.
He bagged the NBA Most Improved Player Award in the 1995-96 season, in which he averaged 14.5 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.26 blocks per game.
Unfortunately, he retired in 2000 after a series of injuries.
