Memphis Grizzlies superstar and point guard Ja Morant will be continuing his leave from the team as he joins a counseling program for his recent firearm showoff on an Instagram live video. After the video went viral, in which he appeared to be holding a gun at a nightclub, Morant has been suspended from the team. And as per the reports, there remains no definite timetable for his return.
Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins also discussed the possibility of Morant returning to action for the Friday game against the San Antonio Spurs. Ja Morant makes his statement regarding his recent firearm incident
Ja Morant released his statement after the incident where he took full responsibility for his actions and apologized to his family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization. At the same time, he also acknowledged that he definitely needs help. And therefore, he will be taking some time away to work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and improving his overall well-being.
Morant’s Statement quoted, “I take full responsibility for my actions last night,” Morant previously said in a statement. “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. Details of the going investigation
The Glendale Police Department on investigating the incident stated that Morant would not be charged with a crime. However, Morant has been making headlines for similar incidents lately that are more than his basketball highlights this season. Records indicate an additional incident that he “threatened” the head of security at a mall and then punched a teenage boy multiple times before going into his house and emerging with a gun. Although, Morant in his defense claimed that he acted in self-defense when he punched the teenager.

Conclusion
Although, Morant is one of the best young players in the league right now and has been a major reason for the Grizzlies’ success this season. However, his off-court incidents have become a cause for concern which is definitely not good for his remaining career. He is young and he’s definitely got a lot of potential but if things are not straightened for him in the near future. It might turn out to be a calamity for him.
