Burnley winger Dwight McNeil has left the club to sign for Merseyside club Everton for a deal worth £19 million, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The English winger has been eyeing a return to the top flight of English football after Burnley’s recent relegation to the Championship. Frank Lampard is said to be a big fan of the 22-year-old, who appears to be adding to the recent signings of Ruben Vinagre from Sporting and fellow ex-Claret James Tarkowski. Lampard looks to bolster the squad after a disappointing 16th-place finish last season for the Toffees in the Premier League.
Dwight McNeil’s Career So Far
The young Englishman was born in Greater Manchester, and was an avid Manchester United fan in his childhood. He signed for the youth team of the Red Devils aged 5 in 2004, but was subsequently released from the Mancunian side due to a lack of game time.

He went on trial at Burnley a week after his release. He signed a two-year professional contract with the Clarets after some impressive performances for the youth team. In May 2018, at the end of the 2017/18 season, he made his debut as a late substitute for Aaron Lennon in a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth. He scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over West Ham in December 2018, after which he signed a new long-term contract with the club would’ve kept him at the club until 2024.
