Boulty has secured his place as the ‘best of the worst’ Test batters scoring 16* against England. Trent Boult equaled Muralitharan’s record for scoring the most runs in Test cricket batting at number 11. He could’ve gotten past the record. However, Daryl Mitchell gave away the catch ending NZ’s 1st inning. Mitchelle not only missed his 200 by 10 runs, but he also ended Trent’s hopes of getting past the record.
With 623 Test runs, Boult is just 1 run away from becoming the batter with most runs at no. 11 in the history of Test cricket. Moreover, he was faster than Sri Lankan legend to achieve the feat in 78 innings in contrast to 98 innings. The left-arm pacer has troubled batters picking 306, 169, and 62 wickets in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is respectively. However, he doesn’t limit himself to troubling the batters. Boult has 927 runs in international cricket with the highest score of 52*.
Trent Boult equals the world record for scoring most runs at no. 11 in Test cricket
Later, Daryl Mitchelle opened up about Boult aiming to break the record for at least 2 months now. Moreover, he hinted at Trent eyeing to break the number 10 record now.
“I’ve spent the last two months with Trent at the IPL and I reckon he’s mentioned it every day, that he wants that record. I think it’s an amazing achievement. Even though he probably carries on, I think he’s a really good batsman and I love the energy he brings, it’s awesome fun batting with him. But it’s something we definitely discussed over many a coffee at the IPL for the last two months. Maybe he’ll go for the No. 10 record now, who knows? It’s always good fun batting with Boulty at the end there, he always provides a bit of entertainment.”
