Moreover, the pioneer of Women’s cricket is also known for her mettle attitude and as a person with a strong point of view. To unveil her complete journey of the ups and downs in her career, the battles she fought, and the prejudices she faced, Srijit Mukherjee is coming up with a biographical sports drama film starring Taapsee Pannu as Mithali.

The trailer of Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee Pannu, has just dropped yesterday(20th June). One can say, Taapsee has surely essayed her role of cricketer Mithali Raj with conviction. With the movie release date getting pushed multiple times due to pandemic, the movie will finally hit the screens next month.
The trailer, longer than two minutes, starts with the childhood story of the legendary cricketer. Then slowly progresses to telling how she started playing matches, showing her in practice grounds and finally becoming the team captain. Her biggest cheerleader, her Coach played by Actor Vijay Raaz discovered her talent and convinced her parents to let her join the academy. It is also shown that she went through a lot of struggles not just during her childhood, but also after joining other senior players at the cricket camp. Mithali as team captain is also seen fighting the obstacles faced by a woman in the male dominated sports industry. The discriminatory and stereotypical mentality against them. To which Taapsee as Mithali is heard saying,
“Aesa khel ke dikhayengay ke koi humaari pehchaan kabhi koi bhool na paye.”
