For many the T20 internationals are the most electrifying and exhilarating forms of World cricket. It takes 11 balls for the bowling team to restrict the opposition to a low total in a T20I. But the format is such where the result remains suspense even till the last ball of the second innings. Stating that, unequivocally the last ball of the last overs is always a decider. It’s the last ball sixes which hurts the opposition the most. Here a list of 5 players with the most ball sixes in T20I format.

5) Shaffiquallah Shafaq – 2 sixes

Playing for the Afghanistan national cricket team from 2009 to 2019 the aggressive right-handed wicketkeeper batsmen ranks fifth . The batter has done remarkably with the bat in the last overs. Playing 46 matches in his 10 years T20 career the batter went for a last ball six twice. Once against Ahsan Malik of Netherlands in Edinburgh on the 9th of July, 2015 and second against Safyaan Sharif of Scotland in the same venue and same year on the 12th of July.

4) Mashrafe Mortaza – 2 sixes

Next in the list and fourth is non-other than the colossal and prolific all-rounder of Bangladesh. He is the former cricketer and captain of all three formats of the Nation’s National cricket team. The right handed batter and ferocious fast bowler with a handsome career of about 18 years. In these years he struck the ball hard twice in his 54 T20Is into the stands in the last balls of the 20th over . First came against Ireland on 8th June 2009 in Nottingham while facing Alex Cusack in the final over and the second against India’s leg spinner Amit Mishra in Dhaka on the 28th March, 2014.

3) Angelo Davis Matthews – 2 sixes

Yet another All-rounder and a quintessential country cricket player and captain of all three formats makes third in the list. The stalwart and consistent Srilankan with his indispensable captaincy skill has a lustrous career of around 13 years. He played 78 T20Is in which twice he finish off the innings by smashing a six into the audience. Once while facing India’s left arm pacer Ashish Nehra in Mohali on the 12th of December 2009 and secondly in the Chittagong venue on 27th March 2014 against Tim Bresnan of England.

2) Nathan McCullum – 2 sixes

Second is the list is the New Zealand’s resolute off-spin bowler and right handed batter Nathan McCullum. Representing his nation in six T20 World cup tournaments, the all-rounder has a international career ranging from 2007 to 2016. In his 63 T20Is, Nathan McCullum was proficient in smashing the ball for a biggie over the boundaries in two innings. First in 2009 on February 15th in Sydney facing Nathan Bracken of Australia and the second time he hit a maximum was in Bridgetown against Pakistan’s off-spinner Saeed Ajmal on 8th May 2010.

1) Mahendra Singh Dhoni – 5 sixes

Outshining all other and topping the list is the primal and ultimate former Indian captain, wicketkeeper-batsmen and finisher of all time Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Upholding the Indian flag high for 15 years from 2004 to 2019, MSD proved his worth while playing 98 T20Is. He has hit the ball over the fence into the stands for a biggie in the last ball in no less than five times in his T20I career.
