“Once a Legacy, Always a Legacy”: Twitterati react to Shadab Khan’s Messy Catch Drop

In the Asia Cup 2022 championship match, Pakistan held Sri Lanka to 170 runs. They had won the toss and bowled effectively to reduce them to 58/5 at the midway point, but Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 71 from 45 balls helped Sri Lanka break out of prison and record a challenging score. Meanwhile, Pakistan was performing at their usual high level as they messed up a straightforward catch of Rajapaksa. 

The scenes were reminiscent of Pakistan’s poor fielding over the years which included dropping easy catches and messing them up. Rajapaksa had a crazy slog at Naseem Shah on the penultimate ball of the game, and the ball went up in the air. In the end, the catch was missed as Shadab Khan ran straight into Asif Ali which then turned into a maximum.
