T20 World Cup 2022: Temba Bavuma-led South Africa defeated unbeaten India in a low-scoring match to reach the top of the points table. David Miller’s anchoring inning made this possible for the Proteas.
South Africa won their second match by 5 runs. After defeating Bangladesh by 104 runs and facing a washed out match, which gave a point, South Africa are now the unbeaten contingent of the ongoing T20 WC.
After winning the toss Rohit Sharma chose to bat first on the bouncy Perth pitch. Batting first India suffered early blows that shattered its foundation, leaving the Men in Blue down to 5-49 just in 8.3 overs. For India Surya Kumar Yadav presented a good show. Scoring 68 off 40, SKY became the highest for India. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also couldn’t harm the opposition much, scoring 15 and 12 respectively.
While the South African bowling unit was on top. As they managed to terminate the Indian innings at just 133 runs, with exceptional bowling. For South Africa, Wayne Parnell picked three, while Lungi Ngidi dismissed four.

Aiden Markram and David Miller’s partnership rescued the sinking South African unit
The lefty-righty duo of Aiden Markram and David Miller saved South Africa from losing a low-chasing match. Chasing 134, South Africa was down to 3-24 in 5.4 overs. However, the duo anchored the second innings with their 76-run partnership.
For India, Arshdeep Singh’s lethal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s disciplined line gave the opposition a couple of early blows. However, the target was too less to defend at this level and they were unsuccessful to take David Miller’s wicket.
Hence, India suffered their first defeat in the T20 World Cup 2022, after defeating Pakistan and Netherlands. Moreover, India is now replaced by South Africa from the top spot in the points table with 5 points.
