IPL Auction 2022: U19 World Cup Winner Yash Dhull Sold for Just 50 Lakhs

The second day of the IPL mega auction is more crucial as now franchises have to complete their squad by taking quality players. DC bought the first three players of the set, including India U19 winning captain Yash Dhull. His teammate Raj Bawa has gone to PBKS for 2 crores. So far, Liam Livingstone is the most expensive player of the day, going to Punjab Kings for INR 11.50 cr. First session of Day 2 of the IPL 2022 Auction was an interesting one. Odean Smith went to Punjab Kings for 6 crores. Mumbai Indians is rapidly filling their squad and bought Mayank Markande and Jaydev Undakat for economical prices. Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen have found new homes. Rahane goes to KKR, while Shivam Dube has been picked up by CSK. Yash Dhull had a base price of Rs 20 lakh only and eventually bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh. DC was the only one to bid for him initially before Punjab too came into the play. A couple of bids from both teams doubled his value, before his home franchise picked him up. Dhull is currently with the Delhi Ranji Trophy squad, whom he joined right after returning from the victorious U-19 World Cup campaign. Punjab Kings were interested in buying the young-dynamic player. But did not fight the war after DC’s bid for INR 50 lakhs.

India’s U-19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhull had a tough campaign in the Caribbean as he recovered from COVID-19. Due to which he missed a major chunk of the tournament. However, once back, Dhull responded with a century in the semi-final against Australia. And then led well in the final as India defeated England to clinch the title. In four of the games, Dhull scored 229 with an average of 76.33, with one century and a fifty to write home about.
