To begin with the match, CSK won the toss and decided to bowl first. Their decision turned out in their favour. Splendid bowling spells helped the team to restrict SRH from putting up a big total. While Jason Roy got dismissed for only 2 runs, Kane Williamson scored only 11 runs. The team tumbled to a low of 134 runs after losing the momentum. Exceptional bowling from Josh Hazlewood as he dismissed 3 batters for 24 runs in 4 overs. Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo also delivered economical spells and took wickets.

In the second innings, CSK took off well. Openers built a strong partnership stand of 75 runs in 10 overs. Ruturaj smashed 45 off 38 and Faf Du Plessis scored 41 off 36 to lead the team. However the game got a slight twist when 3 wickets fell in 2 overs. But Ambati Raydu and MS Dhoni ensured the win and won the match by 6 wickets. On the other hand, Jason Holder did splendid bowling and took 3 wickets by conceding just 27 runs. Despite some good efforts by SRH bowlers, the team lost the match and stood at the last spot.

The Australian pacer did his part very well. Josh Hazlewood took 3 wickets by conceding just 24 runs in 4 overs. He dismissed the opener Jason Roy and power hitters Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad. Exceptional bowling efforts helped CSK to seal another victory.
