The India vs New Zealand campaign moved to Hamilton for the second ODI. Indian team having tasted a bitter defeat in the first ODI, tried transitioning the side with some changes. And Sanju Samson was dropped from the team despite delivering a balanced knock in the first ODI match. However, how those changes affected the performance stands unresolved as the second ODI has been called off due to incessant rain at Seddon Park. But as it turns out, the majority of Indian fans are not saddened by the match’s cancelation, because the fan-favorite Sanju Samson was axed unnecessarily once again.
For the second ODI, Deepak Hooda and Deepak Chahar replaced Shardul Thakur and Sanju Samson in the playing 11. Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill opened the innings as India was put to bat first. However, a staple in the New Zealand series now, rain made an appearance at Seddon Park. The game was subsequently stopped, and rain eventually reduced the overs. Finally, as the match was reduced to 29 overs for each side, play resumed in Hamilton. Shikhar Dhawan got out, Suryakumar Yadav walked in and showed some majestic shots. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill swiftly inched towards another half-century with a display of classic shots. However, their swift knocks faced the stoppage again as the rain returned at the venue. Not nearing a rest, the pouring clouds canceled the match altogether.

Twitter in Outrage as Team India Drops Sanju Samson Again
Generally, a spoilsport like rain disappoints the fans of the game massively. However, if one sees the trend on social media, he’d know that almost no one is truly disturbed by the rain. On the contrary, there’s an outrage going on demanding an explanation for the constant ignorance that Sanju Samson is facing currently. The selection move has been termed deliberate and discriminatory by the fans of the wicket-keeper batter. And the majority of them are still confused as to what Sanju Samson lacks that the board is consistently curbing his game and selection.
Many even cited that they enjoyed rain more than a match that would’ve lacked Samson. Sanju Samson spent entire India vs New Zealand series on the bench. Eventually, he was selected in the Playing 11 for the first ODI, but not at the full potential as Rishabh Pant was the wicket-keeper in the match. Samson played a knock of 36(38) as he complimented Shreyas Iyer perfectly in his knock of 80. However, despite a clear fumble in sight, the team management dropped Samson for the second ODI. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson is not a part of the squad for India’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh. And the spectators are clueless as to why the board is deliberately ignoring a potentially good wicket-keeping option.
