Melbourne: Earlier today, Cricket South Africa announced the South African Squad for the upcoming World Cup. After England and Australia, South Africa is the third team to announce their squad.

The squad led by Tenda Bavuma will also make a short stop in India ahead of the tournament to play a three-match T20I Series. Cricket South Africa also released the list of players for the ODI Series against India. The squad consists of 15 players and 3 traveling reserves. Star batter Rassie van Dussen missed on the South African Squad while Tristan Stubbs and W Parnell received call-ups.
David Miller is just shy off 31 runs to become South Africa’s highest run-getter in T20Is while Q de Kock is shy off 40 runs. Tabraiz Shamsi is the huighest wicket taker for South Africa in the format at 69 wickests while Rabada and Parnell at 52 and 50 wickets. Temba Bavuma has captained South Africa in 17 outings, winning 12 matches and losing 5 games.
South Africa is an active participant in the T20I World cup since its inception. The very first tournament actually took place in South Africa in 2007, where India defeated Pakistan to win the inaugural title. However, South Africa has had a very rocky relationship with the tournament. In the 7 editions, South Africa has reached the semifinals only once. It came in 2009 when they lost to eventual champions Pakistan
