Sydney: The Big Bash League side Sydney Thunder terminate the contract with Fazalhaq Farooqi post the Cricket Australia Integrity Unit Investigation about an incident last week.
The CA has not mentioned the crime/incident committed by the Afghan pacer. They have notified them that he has broken the code of conduct of the CA. The highest cricket authority later supported the decision in a separate statement.
“The behaviors displayed by Fazalhaq Farooqi sit outside our values and it was determined that his contract be terminated,” Cricket NSW chief executive Lee Germon said.
“Our focus now is providing the necessary support to those affected by this incident.” The chief added
The question of who’ll replace Fazalhaq is doubtful. The young pacer has been an instrumental support to the failing Thunder. He was picked up as a replacement for English pacer David Willey.
Thunder are already in a weak state after winning one match of the four so far. In addition, the past winners failed monumentally after crashing out in just 15 runs against the Strikers.
Sydney Thunder in addition to Fazalhaq Farooqi will miss the presence of captain Jason Sangha who’s nursing a collarbone injury. He is reported to miss the whole season. Additionally, Tanveer Sangha is also missing the fixture.
