Ben Stokes ensued a hyped-up bid in the IPL 2024 mini-auction. His former team Rajasthan Royals though with a low purse value tried to re-acquire the all-rounder. However, as more teams entered the bid, the Royals has to bow out. Fighting it out with the likes of Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings bagged Stokes. Breaking their bank, Chennai bought Stokes for a whopping 16.25 crores.
Stokes in IPL Over the Years
Ben Stokes entered IPL in 2017 as the former IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiants bagged him for a whopping 14.5 crore. The aggressive all-rounder claimed every penny with his spell-bounding performance in the season. Going all guns blazing, Stokes dominated the season with over 300 runs. Moreover, scalping over ten wickets in the season, Stokes wrapped the season with the best figure 3/18. To put a cherry on top, Stokes also scored a century for RPS against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2017.

In IPL 2018, Rajasthan Royals broke their banks for Stokes. However, Stokes’ time with Royal wasn’t as blazing as expected. Stokes played his last in IPL back in 2021 when he was ruled out due to an injury. In IPL 2022, Ben Stokes opted out citing a need for a mental break from the game. However, he re-entered the bid in IPL 2024 and became the top all-round option for the teams. Hence, bagging a whopping deal in the season.
