Umran Malik was born on the 22nd of November, 1999 in Gujjar Nagar, Jammu. He has always been very much attracted towards the cricket gameplay and thus started playing when he was just a kid who was still in the primary school. In an interview, his father revealed that Umran played the sport whole day while he was at school and later went back to play in the evening as well after dropping his bag at home. However, his father and his parents never restrained him from his dreams and always provided for their child.
Umran initially started playing extraordinary cricket when he turned 17 years old. By then, he had already recognized about what he would do to shape his future. Umran Malik played his first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the 2020-2021 series. Following which he was selected in the T20 squad of the state team of Jammu and Kashmir. His first match was against the Railways in which he performed greatly by procuring a total of 3 wicket and giving off just 24 runs. This match was scheduled on the 18th of January in 2021. After a month of this awesome performance, he was given an opportunity to perform in the List-A tournament of Vijay Hazare Trophy against West Bengal.
After his bright performances, he was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise during the IPL auction 2021 for his base price of Rs 10 Lakh.
