Ishan Kishan, the wicket-keeper batsman has recently been hospitalized after he endured the hit on his head over the helmet during the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka. He has been taken to a hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. However, the match was taking place in the same state at the Dharamshala stadium.
The incident occurred whilst India was chasing the total score put up by Sri Lanka. Ishan Kishan was on the crease during the fourth over when Lahiru Kumara, a right-arm fast bowler bowled a short delivery. It was a 146-kmph bouncer and it unswervingly thumped onto Ishan’s helmet. As a reaction of this, the batsman promptly fell down. It was a tensed situation on the field, especially for the Indian Cricket Team. The physio was called post-haste to check on Ishan. Although, he continued batting even after getting knackered until two overs later he fell again. Ishan scored an innings of 16 runs off 15 deliveries.
A doctor from the hospital in Kangra in which Ishan Kishan is hospitalized said that he was brought in by the physio team of the Indian squad. Also, he is currently under observation after conducting a CT scan. Apart from Ishan, Dinesh Chandimal, a Sri Lankan batsman was also dashed into the hospital. He sustained a thumb injury during fielding.
Besides the injuries, India won the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka with the major contributions from Shreyas Iyer who scored his career’s highest score of 74 off 44 deliveries along with Ravindra Jadeja scoring a brilliant score of 45 in just 18 balls. These great knocks helped India to chase down the total of 184 put up by the opponent team. Not to mention, with this victory, India also won the T20I series with 2-0, inscribing their third uninterrupted T20I series win.
