John Cena Continues Impressive Streak In 2022

The WWE’s marquee superstar John Cena is set to achieve a unique feat. Cena’s involvement on WWE Smackdown on 30th December would see him compete in at least one match every year for the past two decades.

John Cena Returns This Friday

Cena is set to tag with Kevin Owens and take on ‘The Honorary UceSami Zayn and the Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns. In previous week’s edition of Smackdown, it was announced that Owens would be taking on the team of Zayn and the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. But there was one catch – Owens would have a mystery tag team partner of his choosing. Owens has had his own issues with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline for the better part of the last year. The feud doesn’t seem to be dying down either with Owens’ long-time best friend Sami Zayn selling his soul by backstabbing Owens to prove his loyalty to The Bloodline.

Cena Is Revealed As Owens’ Mystery Partner

Before Smackdown went off the air, the live audience would witness none other than the 16-time World Champion John Cena on the titantron. Cena would proceed to disclose that Kevin Owens dropped him a text, asking the veteran wrestler to be his tag team partner for the upcoming fiasco. Cena gladly accepted the offer.

This would be Cena’s first match of 2022. Cena’s last WWE match was against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021 after he made a heroic return to confront the Tribal Chief at the end of Money In The Bank, 2021. This match on Smackdown on 30th December at Tampa, Florida would ensure that Cena has had at least one WWE match every year since his debut in 2002. Kevin Owen’s invitation was too good of an opportunity to pass up on. Paul Heyman has termed the match as ‘the biggest televised match of 2022.’

An Extra-ordinary Match Card For Smackdown

The main event of John Cena and Kevin Owens teaming up against the duo of Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns isn’t the only scheduled match that’s turning heads.

For WWE’s last show of the year, Raquel Rodriguez battled the odds and won a gauntlet match on this Friday’s Smackdown to earn herself a championship match against the WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Rousey is set to have Shana Bazler in her corner, which might tilt the scales and numerical advantage towards Rousey.

Additionally, the Celtic Warrior Sheamus is set to take on The Enforcer and Bloodline member Solo Sikoa. A match almost certain to be a hard-hitting clash of the goliaths.
