Taylor Fritz wins Eastbourne International 2022 and the third tour-level title against Cressy

Taylor Fritz sets a strong foot for the Wimbledon with his third career title in Eastbourne International 2022

The 3rd-seed Taylor Fritz wins his third title in Eastbourne International 2022 against Maxime Cressy. Taylor was the 2019 Eastbourne champion and claimed his second Eastbourne title.

The World No 14 banged his third career title defeating his fellow American, Maxime Cressy by 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-6(4). His first time as champion was in 2019 against Sam Querry 6-3, 6-4. He overcame the defending champion, Alex de Minaur in the semi-final in three sets.

The 24-year-old American was leading the first set at 3-1(40-40) when he hits a backhand past Cressy to take the advantage to solid the lead. Ultimately, with a rock-solid lead, Taylor wrapped the first set. But, Cressy stood solid in the second set and fought till the last to take it to the tiebreak.

Both Americans begin the decider set very tight, it was outcoming as a dramatic match. Cressy tried to cover the set but could not do much effective as Taylor could read his tactics. Taylor arced 17 aces with bagel double faults and surprised Cressy with his accurate 91% first serves points win.

Taylor hammered through the sideline for numerous winners versus Cressy. The match lasted for two hours and almost 20 minutes for the 24yo to lift his second Eastbourne title. Taylor Fritz will meet Lorenzo Musetti in the first round of Wimbledon on Tuesday.
