The World number one, Novak Djokovic becomes the 5th player to register the 1000th win in tennis history. On 14 May, he enrolled himself amongst the most match winners by defeating Casper Ruud. He included himself in yet another record just after recording the most consecutive weeks as World No 1.
Djokovic will make it to his 12th Rome final after holding Ruud to 6-4,6-3 in the semifinals of the Italian Open 2022. He is the fifth tennis player to win 1000 matches. The most matches won title still belongs to Jimmy Connors with 1274 matches win followed by the Swiss, Roger Federer with 1251 matches win. The third player to be on the list is Ivan Lendl who won 1068 matches till his retirement. Nadal secures fourth place with 1051 match wins.
Novak Djokovic’s career history of 1000 wins
Djokovic’s win history is just like a dream for any tennis player to achieve. He won his first ATP Tour Title in 2006 Amersfoort which was just his 37th match win. On his 77th match win, he achieved his first ATP Masters 1000 title in the Miami Open 2007 at 20 years of age. Then, Djokovic won match number 128 as his first-ever Grand Slam in 2008 at the Australian Open.
Novak defeated Roger Federer to win his fifth Nitto ATP Finals title-winning his 686 matches in 2012 London. His records never stop and are quite tough to be broken by any other. His performance surprises every Nole fan in his every match. Novak Djokovic soon may break a couple of top-seeded players in the list of most matches win.
He will play his 12th Rome final on Sunday with his 1001st match against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Italian Open 2022.
