Serena Williams’ ex-coach Patrick Mouratoglou calls Carlos Alcaraz an all-court player unlike Rafael Nadal

The coach thinks Nadal has learned to become an all-court player.

Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mouratoglou opined that World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz is an all-court player, unlike Rafael Nadal who is more of a clay-court player. The coach thinks Nadal has learned to become an all-court player.

“I think Carlos Alcaraz is an all-court player, I don’t think he is a clay-court player,” Mouratoglou said. “Rafa is more of a clay court player. He’s an all-court player, but he has learned to be good on other surfaces, but originally, he was really a clay court player, which is not the case for Carlos,” he added.

“I think he’s an all-court player from the start. He’s good on hard as on clay, maybe I would give me a little more advantage on clay than hard because he has some weapons that are deadly on clay,” the coach added. The 19-year-old impressed everyone last year when he won five titles, which also included his first Grand Slam (2022 US Open). This saw him take the first spot in the ATP ranking toward the end of the year. Notably, he has won eight titles so far, and four of them have come on clay and the other four have come on hard courts.

Moutatoglow continued to praise Alcaraz by naming a few strengths of the Spaniard which gives him an extra edge on clay compared to hard courts. The 52-year-old said Alcaraz is a master in drop shots, his serve is one of the best, and he also has a powerful forehand. Also Read: Novak Djokovic Battling Elbow Issues Ahead Of Banja Luka Open
