World No.38 Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia will take on Alexander Bublik of Kazhakstan in the first round of the 2022 Madrid Open on Tuesday, May 3.
Miomir Kecmanovic has been in red hot form right from the start of this year and has reached his career high ranking. He has been displaying tremendous consistency across all tournaments and is most likely to rise even further in ranking. The 22 year old Serb has reached a string of Quarterfinals including the Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open and Serbia Open. He reached his first semifinal of the year last week in Munich after defeating Max Hans Rehberg, Altmair and Basilashvili without dropping a set. He later fell against Botic Van de Zandschulp in three sets. But having been consistent in preformances, the Serb should arrive in Madrid with high confidence.
Alexander Bublik is not having the brightest of years so far and he is 1-2 in clay court so far. It could be fair to say clay is not his strongest forte but still is capable of performing good in the surface. The 24 year old reached the quarterfinal in Madrid last year. The Kazhakstan national acquired his first trophy in Motpellier this year after defeating Zverev. But he hasn’t played the same since then. He exited in the first round two weeks ago in Barcelona after loosing to Ruusuvouri in straight sets. He will be hoping to improve his tennis and gain back his lost form.
